Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a report on the economic operation of the automobile industry in the first half of 2011. In the first half of the year, the growth rate of automobile production and sales market showed a trend of decline month by month, but the overall growth momentum was maintained. The overall economic benefits of the automobile industry were good, and the growth rate showed a gentle decline.

　　1. Automobile sales in the first half of the year increased by 3.35% year-on-year

　　According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, 9.156 million vehicles were produced in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 2.48%, a year-on-year decrease of 46 percentage points; 9.3252 million vehicles were sold, a year-on-year increase of 3.35%, a year-on-year decrease of 45 percentage points.

　　The automobile sales in the first and second quarters were 4.9898 million and 4.3707 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 8.22% in the first quarter and a year-on-year decrease of 0.79% in the second quarter. The growth rate in the second quarter fell by 9.01 percentage points from the first quarter.

　　In June, automobile production was 1.4037 million units, a year-on-year increase of 0.65% and a month-on-month increase of 3.83%; sales were 1.4359 million units, a year-on-year increase of 1.40% and a month-on-month increase of 3.62%.

　　The market share of large enterprise groups has increased slightly

　　In the first half of 2011, four automobile companies (groups) including SAIC, Dongfeng, Changan and FAW sold more than one million vehicles, reaching 1.9846 million, 1.5053 million, 1.2505 million and 1.14 million respectively. The top ten automobile sales groups sold a total of 8.0839 million vehicles, accounting for 87% of the total automobile sales, and the sales market share increased by 0.9 percentage points over the same period.

　　2. The growth rate of economic benefits in the automobile industry is declining

　　From January to May 2011, key enterprises in the automobile industry achieved a total main business income of 948.849 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.90%, a decrease of 2.22 percentage points from January to April; and completed industrial added value of 183.001 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.25%, a decrease of 5.15 percentage points from January to April.

　　3. The development trend of automobile exports is good

　　In the first half of 2011, 381,100 complete vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 56.99%.

　　From January to May 2011, a total of 389,300 complete vehicles were imported, a year-on-year increase of 21.68%.

　　4. The policy to promote energy-saving vehicles has achieved remarkable results

Since the implementation of the energy-saving car promotion policy 　　in June 2010 , the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Finance have jointly issued six batches of energy-saving car promotion catalogs, with a total of 41 companies and 427 models included in the promotion catalog. The number of energy-saving car models has increased by more than three times compared with before the promotion. By the end of June 2011, a total of 4.1915 million energy-saving cars were produced, accounting for 42.45% of the production of passenger cars with a capacity of 1.6 liters or less in the same period, and the market share increased by 35 percentage points. The market share of energy-saving cars has been rising month by month. In June 2011, 384,900 energy-saving cars were produced, accounting for 56.9% of the production of passenger cars with a capacity of 1.6 liters or less, and the market share increased by 34 percentage points compared with 22% in June 2010.
